Advantages of Laser Welding

Laser Welding can be used for a wide variety of application for the toolmaking industry, here are just a few:

  1. Damaged edges can be rebuilt
  2. Slots can be filled up weather completely or partly. Smallest width of slot that can be welded is 0.02mm wide by 100mm deep.
  3. Cracks can be individually filled and repaired
  4. Damaged hot runner tips
  5. Diamond polished finished faces can be welded and re-polished without the problems of the water mark look that you get with a conventional tig.
  6. Inserts damaged that need to be grained/martex.
  7. Sprung steel up & aways can have weld placed on them for matching or sparking forms without losing their spring.
  8. Shut of faces that are damaged worn or too shallow can be built up.
  9. Blow holes from tig welding can be easily touched in.
  10. Gates refilled witht he base metal or a harder material to slow down wear.
  11. Burn marks from sparkling filled in.
  12. Oring grooves repaired or filled.
  13. Inserts can be welded in position to stop the joing edge showing on the moulded part.
  14. Instead of inserting, the area can be built up then machined or sparked afterwards, (especially handy on very small parts).
  15. Leaking water ways of inserts
  16. Copper electrodes can be welded re-dressed and re-used
  17. Weld down ejector pin holes to repair damaged edges to stop flashing
  18. Because there is no electrode or ceramic sleeve as in a conventional tig, we are able to weld areas that are impossible to reach with a tig gun.
